The British Council in Zimbabwe celebrated The Bright Future Awards, held recently, which showcased the remarkable achievements of outstanding Zimbabwean students in the Cambridge International exams. It was an inspiring event where dreams came true, talents were acknowledged, and futures were set in motion.

The event was officiated by Senior British Council staff members from across Southern Africa with the guest of honour being the British Ambassador to Zimbabwe. Although this was a very formal event, the atmosphere was very celebratory filled with lots of fun for the students, teachers and Head teachers who attended the event. Students provided entertainment with one amazing performance by Oxford High School who performed traditional music and dances, the group was led by a visually impaired student who played the Mbira, a traditional Zimbabwean instrument.

The students being celebrated and honoured were recognised in categories such as top in Zimbabwe, top in the world, best across subjects in Zimbabwe and Cambridge high achiever. Another interesting category was for the outstanding educators who were nominated by their peers to receive awards.

Event organisers Bansi Vara, Senior Marketing Exams Manager and Upenyu Toma, Account Relationship Manager, said that they look forward to having more interaction with British Council Partner Schools and hosting these events was essential as they recognise young talent and support shaping of future leaders. This will be an annual event for Zimbabwe Partner Schools going foward.
