Zimbabwe’s creative sector represents one of the country’s most dynamic economic opportunities. Yet despite its strong talent base, growth is often constrained by limited infrastructure, restricted access to finance, and gaps in enterprise support. For emerging creatives and small cultural businesses, these barriers significantly limit their ability to participate in and contribute to the wider creative economy.
The Creative Enterprise and Collaboration Programme (CECP) was co-designed by the British Council and the Embassy of Switzerland as a strategic response to these challenges. CECP aims to stimulate growth and long-term sustainability across Zimbabwe’s cultural and creative industries by investing in interventions with measurable economic and social impact.
Through CECP, we support music, fashion, alongside targeted capacity-building, market development, and showcasing opportunities. These investments are designed to:
- enhance creative and entrepreneurial skills
- improve access to local, regional, and international markets
- strengthen business growth and resilience
- expand employment and income opportunities within the sector
This Impact stories showcase the real-world outcomes of CECP-supported interventions. Through short documentary narratives, we follow Zimbabwean authors, designers, curators, and creative entrepreneurs whose businesses have scaled through improved skills, networks, funding, and market exposure.
Each story demonstrates the potential for creative enterprises to drive inclusive economic growth and the value of strategic partnerships in unlocking that potential.
CECP represents a platform for partners seeking to invest in sustainable creative sector development, youth employment, cultural exchange, and enterprise growth across Zimbabwe.
